The John Fisher Music Department is well known for its SATB choir who perform regularly both in and out of school.  We rehearse daily to keep up with the extensive repertoire we learn.

We host many events throughout the school year both onsite and at various venues which we are invited to perform at.

We are extremely lucky to have a beautiful chapel at The John Fisher School with outstanding acoustics.  We sing ‘Epilogue’ in the chapel on the last Thursday of every month which is 20 minutes of choral sacred music complemented by bidding prayers.

We present a sacred concert each May, ‘Symphonia Verbum,’ where we perform some of the most famous and challenging choral pieces.

We are often invited to sing at religious services and sacraments such as funerals, ordinations, weddings and masses.  In addition to this, we sing choral evensong at various UK Cathedrals.

On the lighter side, we present a secular Spring and Summer Concert which usually has a theme connecting all the music performed from all the ensembles.  To date, we have performed an array of music from film and TV, music from around the world and across the decades of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Christmas is our busiest period with carol singing requests from local charities, residential homes, shopping centres and St Giles School.  In addition to this, we offer our ‘Christmas Bonanza’ concert, a secular fun party-style concert as well as our beautiful candlelit sacred ‘Service of Lessons and Carols’ which for many of our returning congregation, is the start of Christmas.

The JFS Choir visits a European country every two years to perform in at least two sacred venues and one outdoor town centre.  This year, we will be visiting Paris and performing in Notre Dame Cathedral.
